Client-focused design
Each client and house pose unique needs and opportunities and it is a delight to create the right design for the client and the house. All too often trends lead down a formulaic path, without anything amusing or odd to charm. So, whether it's a back-to-the-bricks renovation or a one room design, our job is to discover and employ what delights and enchants the client. Clients often have meaningful items that give us a springboard from which to create: maybe it's a case of using existing art to inform colours and patterns throughout, or perhaps it is honouring old family furniture with the right setting, using new colours and textiles. At other times, the process starts from scratch, together discovering what the client enjoys and building from there. We love to use antiques as often as possible, both to reuse existing products and to further enhance the homeliness; incorporating antiques that have a lovely patina lends both warmth and comfort - there is an ease to old things allowing life to be both relaxed and lovely. We enjoy working with clients as they rediscover the beauty of old things and we identify threads of design so that together we can create a beautiful home that truly reflects the owner.
Employ and enrich the natural landscape
Too often gardens are not integral in the house design concept and their ability to enrich interior views and provide outdoor entertaining space is woefully neglected. We offer the opportunity of holistic design that sees the whole space - not just the bricks and mortar - as enhancing the life of the occupants, through creating naturalistic but traditional English garden landscapes. Such gardens not only help the environment and encourage wildlife, but they also change the way you live and entertain, giving you outdoor "rooms" in which to breeze in and out and enjoy your surroundings. Having grown up in the American deep South, Laura is well-placed to create whimsical and traditional gardens that thrive in the hotter and dryer English summers we're now experiencing.
Support creatives
We seek to support those who love creating, so we look to incorporate the work of local and emerging artists in our design work. Artists often shy from self-promotion, so we love discovering and promoting their skill.
Give
Beauty should not be for the privileged few, so 10% of all profits go to charity, enabling us to extend good things to as many as possible.
